Smita Sawai
Smita Sawai is a founder of avani-design, and she has been offering creative services to meet the branding, print and web design needs for businesses and professionals.
Smita likes to create Creative Design Solutions for her clients that are visually effective and communicate unique message. With over 20 years of experience in business, non-profit and university contexts, her experience in graphic design covers a range of projects that showcase variety of work.
Prior to starting avani-design in 2007, she was a graphic and web designer for the College of Education at MSU for ten years. Previously she also worked as a media specialist at Phoenix Inc. at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. She also worked as an instructor at Purdue University, West Lafayette where she taught graphic design, typography and various computer programs to undergraduate students.
While working at avani-design she joined College of Education, MSU again in 2013 – 2017 to help the Communications Office with design and media needs.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Nagpur University, India, master’s degree in Visual Communication from Industrial Design Center, IIT, Mumbai and another master’s degree in Graphic Design from Iowa State University.
She is actively involved with various non-profit organizations such as India Cultural Society, Bharatiya Temple of Lansing, Okemos Education Foundation, Okemos Athletic Boosters and Okemos Music Patrons to help them with their publicity and marketing materials.
She recently moved to Arizona and is a member of Chandler Chamber of Commerce.
